Enjoying an experience with its Panerai watch

At the last Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, Panerai announced a new experience for owners of some of its models: namely to acquire a timepiece and experience an extraordinary adventure. The first part of this approach took place in early September.

The story begins at the legendary naval base “Teseo Tesei” in La Spezia (Italy), to which 33 lucky Panerai owners were invited. Equipped with their brand-new Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech watch, the 33 guests joined the ranks of the Italian Navy’s Comsubin special forces for a two-day experience, for which the mission was to “attack the enemy from the sea”.

On the first day, participants sailed in inflatable boats to Varignano Fortress, home to the naval base. During the Republic of Genoa, this place was used as a hospital for contagious diseases and is now closed to the public. Once onsite, clients underwent a medical examination before receiving customized uniforms, essential to the planned land, sea and air assault exercises. The next day, the actual day of the experience, they faced the most extreme challenges. From dawn onwards, several speed activities directly inspired by the training of the Navy’s special forces took place successively under the watchful eye of the GOS (Operational Divers Group) and the GOI (Operational Raiders Group). Activities included scuba diving, shooting sessions, obstacle courses and a 100-metre zip line descent over a deep chasm.

After all these thrills, the group had the privilege of visiting the Anteo, the Italian Navy rescue ship assigned to the Comsubin.

Once the mission was accomplished and the adrenaline rush had subsided, the experience ended with two evenings on the theme of Italian dolce vita. These moments allowed everyone to reconnect with Italian-style easy living and to admire the calm waters from the coastline.
